It is funded by the DFG (German Research foundation) for up to 12 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">The focus of the SFB 1557 is the functional plasticity encoded by cellular membrane networks. It addresses the role of the lipid code of membranes (from the plasma membrane to cellular organelles and bacteria) for membrane protein function, and the crosstalk between both for cellular survival and adaptation. It also host the <strong>Glacios cryo electron microscope<\/strong> of the Structural Biology unit. This includes <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>high speed centrifuges<\/strong> for protein purification <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ultracentrifuges<\/strong> for organelle purifications, large scale <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>shakers<\/strong> for bacterial and yeast growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a <strong>cell culture lab<\/strong> to grow mammalian and insect cells<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>several devices to crack yeast and E.coli cells, including a <strong>cryo-mill<\/strong> and a fluidizer,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:10%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:45%\">\n<ul
